Installation Questions
I've installed the software, but I don't see it.
Once you install the software, it will appear as a toolbar at the top of MS Outlook. You can click and drag the button so that it is not in it's own separate row.
Program Questions
How does the translation work?
The text of the email is sent to Google along with the source and destination languages. Google translates the text and sends back the translation. The translation is done in "chunks", as large emails are broken up into smaller manageable bits to be transalted.
How do I change the default options?
There are 4 default options that can be changed - Default Language to Translate (Source), Default Translation Language (Destination), Option to Strip HTML, and the font (size and typeface).
The options can be modified by going to the Outlook Menu and selecting Tools | Options and then selecting the Tempo Translation tab.
Make the changes and then choose OK or Apply.
The default settings are:
Default Language to Translate From (Source): Autoselect
Autoselect attempts to determine the language.
Default Translation Language (Destination): English
Strip HTML: Checked
Font: Tahoma 8
I received an error message "Error: could not reliably detect source language"
The text of an email is sent in "chunks" to Google Translate. If Google cannot determine the source language for the particular "chunk" and "Autoselect" is the default source language, this message is generated. This error might not affect the entire email, but just a "chunk". To prevent this error message from happening, select a source language, instead of using autoselect.
I received an error message "Error: invalid translation language pair"
There are some language pairs that cannot be translated. Google is constantly working on updating the translations.
